I combed the beach on the overcast Thursday that I was in Venice Beach in search of the man I would later get to know as Harry Perry-- his "real" name. However, another gentleman caught my eye first. He was Louis Garza. Mostly I was struck by his attire: tan pants, white shirt and conservative tie, cowboy hat...and boots, "Terminator" shades, wet-suit gloves, a "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat"-like bath robe, holster with one toy six-shooter and finally his "prop"--a nine iron golf club. He was practicing his golf swing as I approached to ask him my questions. |
I would like the ability to forgive. There is too much pain in this world. We need to love each other to end this war but first we must love ourselves. And that begins by forgiving ourselves. |
I really felt invigorated after meeting Louis Garza. He was thoughtful and articulate. He really surprised me with his answers. |
